It's not you, it's Facebook! The social media giant Facebook Inc., picture sharing platform Instagram, and its messaging sidekick Whatsapp all went down amid the outage. Millions of individual users, businesses, and agencies reported that they were unable to access these social media platforms, including some who went to Twitter to post.

Many, including myself, might have noticed the website showed the following error message: “Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can.” Messages couldn't be sent or received on Whatsapp. Social media platforms were working to restore the services at the earliest.

As a result of the Facebook outage, the company's stock dropped by -5% in a single day within hours and losses around $5.9 billion in net worth. Many users rushed to Twitter to get updates, which resulted in Twitter's record for highest number of users on its platform at one time.
